MEET ATMOS
DESIGN CHARACTERISTICS
The design of ATMOS incorporates advanced aerodynamic features which contribute to top speeds through lowered drag and improved high speed control to avoid catapults during touchdown. The shape is opimised for maximum stability, low aerodynamic drag, early take-off and maximum leverage over the foil, whilst allowing to keep your comfortable, almost parallel stance.
Advanced Rail Design - rail shapes designed for ultra-clean release resulting in a fast ride with deep engagement during gybing for a dependable, stable carve. The high rails give the rider more leverage when canted over to the windward side and increases forward drive and the righting moment.
Deck Concave - subtle use of deck concaves to stiffen up the deck surfaces without adding extra weight and reducing high speed drag as much as possible whilst providing a smooth exit at the tail with a laminar airflow over the board.
Ultra Profile - ergonomically engineered foot profiles, designed for maximum comfort when driving the rail in the most neutral position, and allowing for a maximum steering range through the feet.
LAY-UP AND BOTTOM SHAPE
The well known Lockwood bottom shape has been revised and used throughout the whole TRIBAL range. Furthermore, we chose a full carbon construction with added UD and Glass patches for impact. We use BIAX carbon on the bottom and deck of the boards as a very efficient compromise between stiffness and softness in the boards.
OVERALL V SHAPE WITH DEEP BEVELS
Unique deep bevels have been added in the design to minimize chop impact effects and reduce rail pressure, resulting in the smoothest ride on the market, without adding drag. An overall V shape in combination with these deep bevels assists in railing the board in an especially easy and natural manner when needed, and keep it flat at other times.
CUT-OUTS
The extra large cut-outs incorporated in the bottom shape of ATMOS combined with the short nose help the board onto the foil easily and allow take-offs in the lightest winds. These cut-outs help to reduce the waterline, making take-off and touchdowns more efficient. The significantly reduced tail volume and progressive tail-kick ensure you will not have to push too hard on the tail to activate the foil and fly.
Once you are up on the foil the wide tail provides extra leverage and control, while the short nose keeps the board reactive with enough power to glide through the lulls and fly deeper downwind and tighter upwind. Stability is key when flying at high speeds and finding your balance when gybing, and the cut-outs in the board shape are crucial in assuring a comfortable, stable but super fast ride.
VALVE
We make use of a Gore Tex valve in our boards. The valve doesn’t need to be opened and closed as the membrane allows air pressure to be equalized without water getting through.
STRAP POSITIONS
Vario-Inserts - provide adjustable strap spacing to allow for use with boots or barefoot riding, along with options for forward and rear placement and spacing catering for all shapes and sizes.
